Claim Service Representative

Reports To: Executive General Adjustor and/or Vice-President of Claims

Position Type: Full Time - Entry Level Non-Exempt Position

Educational Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree with professional designations preferred or equivalent education and work experience.

Lifting Requirements

  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs., including the use of a ladder for inspection and in settlement of a claim.

Othe Job Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ability to work with technology

Job Summary

The Claim Service Representative is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and resolving property and casualty insurance claims in a fair and timely manner. This entry-level role requires strong communication, critical thinking, and customer service skills to ensure an exceptional experience for policyholders and agents. Working closely with internal departments, the representative manages claim files from start to finish, evaluates policy coverage, establishes reserves, and contributes to team training and catastrophe response when needed. This full-time position is based on-site at our Wausau, WI office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Focus on outstanding customer service towards all customers internal and external.
  • Responsible for initial department phone intake and claim setup.
  • Examine policy coverage forms and other records to determine insurance coverage
  • Desk-adjust small level claims including but not limited to Equipment Breakdown and Theft
  • Establish and monitor reserves to adequately reflect the exposure, making appropriate changes as the file develops.
  • Clear and effective communications with all management by providing positive feedback in all areas to help make all departments succeed.
  • Clear documentation for all files meeting or exceeding our guidelines and procedures
  • Assist in any additional area needed as the claim volume changes
  • Respond to communication promptly and per department and company guidelines.

Additional Duties

  • Participate in catastrophe teams, provide a positive team environment with open communication and assistance.
  • Assist in training opportunities for the claims department as requested
  • Provide leadership within the company, to assist in approving levels of subrogation recoveries, fraud detection and claim cost mitigation.
